My kids received this as a present, set it up, it seemed to work, but they couldn’t get any of the dance steps to register AT ALL. Not a single one. The useless character on the screen only intoned “Try Harder!” over and over, finally leading to “FAILURE” or whatever. Needless to say, after an hour or so of this, the kids were in tears.

I started doing tech support on this, and the first thing I noticed was that the pad was not actually broken and seemed to work correctly. On the menus, the pad worked fine for pressing A and B, moving around with the arrows, etc. But like the kids, I also could not score a single hit on even the easiest tutorial.
