Jim
Adams
Pods, bones,
seeds and stones are some of the images
that speak of birth, life, loss and hope in the drawing,
painting and sculpture of Jim Adams. Using metal, stone,
glass and other mediums Jim selects materials based on their
contribution to the overriding narrative of his work.
In a process
that requires a meditative awareness of the moment, Jim allows
a dialogue between himself and materials that develops into the
things he makes. When I begin making something, it is an
instant where memories, materials, emotion and time converge and
intertwine to become a tangible representation of something that
would otherwise be abstract.
Though Jims
work might be considered abstract, he insists that each piece
is part of a greater story in which human and natural interaction
is considered. He lives with the philosophy that all things are
connected and have impact on everything around them. His story
speaks of journeys worth taking, events worth recalling and lives
worth living.
